Some Poker to discuss...

This is afterall a poker blog. Have to have something regarding or somewhat resembling poker news every once in a while. I played Saturday at Harrahs to kill time in advance of the Final Four. Obviously, had the right team from Richmond made it to Houston I would have been there too. Unfortunately, nothing really stood out on the session. I mostly dragged pots without showdown. If it was a bigger tournament with a slower structure, I'd feel real good about this as I grew my stack fairly steadily without risking too much. Still, the Saturday Tournament has fast blinds so you really need to win a few big pots with showdowns, if you are to survive late. Normally, I'll bluff-catch and can win a lot that way. Not this week, I'd basically sense weakness and take down a pot. Lots of time I probably had the best hand but not all the time. That's encouraging for when I play the Circuit event in May. You need to steal those pots to stick around until you can win the bi...

Poker Update and Baseball Debate...

So, I have a ton of live Texas Hold'em poker poker to discuss. Ran through a mega to win 2k in tournament chips at the IP. That was fun. Finished about 15 or so from the money in a $350 tournament ring tournament and that wasn't so fun considering I played for 11 or so hours for nothing. Had some mistakes and some postive things to move on with, and a couple of hands I will discuss. Also congrats to Monkey for his success in hold'em and omaha at the IP. I keep telling myself I am going to use my Omaha poker online experience to good use but never do. Before I get into the poker, somehow I've also been busy having a pointless debate that I wanted to share with the world. I'm sure I'll turn off a lot of you with my "anti-american" opinion. This is from a baseball debate me and a friend have been having on facebook. He's probably more right than I am, as my dislike for the sport colors my opinion too much, although I could argue it's pro...

Link Dumps, Funny Video, and Online Poker

Played some online poker last night and only found a single Multi-Table Texas Holdem poker tournament that I wanted to play. As usual, one tabling online leads to a little bit of boredom. For whatever reason I didn't feel like playing Online Sit and go poker tournaments in conjunction like I normally do. So I surfed the net. Below are some of the more interesting places I visited. First a video: The greates Fail videos of the year. Some good ones, some seen a ton ones, and a few new ones sprinkled in there. Might need to fast forward but not a bad way to kill time waiting for a playable hand or guys nursing the time clock on the bubble. BTW, people are saying that's an angle in a debate on 2+2. What? You got a timebank to use any way you want it. I don't like it but it's a part of the game. See more funny videos and funny pictures at CollegeHumor . -I'm not big on the whole concept that we are a secretly evil country and deserve international hatred. Too much of...

Harrahs 1-2 NL Poker Action Post Saints Preseason game vs. Texans cont.

Brian told me he had a number of winning Texas Holdem sessions at Harrahs but had gone into bankroll rebuilding mode and would pull up when he was far enough ahead. Then eat and come back for the minimum buy-in. Third night he did it a dealer he didn ’t even have that night told him he had to put all his chips from his first session on the table if he wanted to play. So, after dinner, Brian left a winner, again, I guess he's not just an expert in online poker strategy , he's pretty good live too, and I rejoined our old table. I then ran into Mr. Luckbox . Irony is I heard a big stack at the other side of the table lamenting about how lucky the guy was and I thought to myself, that’s poker get over it, somebody is always getting all the cards. Yeah. Then I proceded to get the dealer down from hell. Yeah. So, I sit down and take a look at Mr. Luckbox ’s chips and think I’m going to double through him and maybe follow Brian’s lead and head to the exit a solid winner. He raised ...

Lets go Gulf Coast Poker Players!

Image
The main event is shaping up to be a good one for railbirds and hopefully television watchers for those that follow local players. We have a slew of them still alive in the WSOP No Limit Texas Holdem Main Event. Our magazine stretches the Gulf Coast a big. Sure we take the entire coast from Florida to the tip of Texas, though we probably should do more for our friends in Tampa and players closer to Brownsville but we also think of ourselves as a hub that stretches up the Mississippi to Tunica, and count Arkansas players, Georgians, Tennesseeans (sp?), Alabamaians and others as our own. Basically, if you routinely play the tournaments in our area we'll include you too. King of the WSOP Circuit Dwyte Pilgrim may be a New Yorker but he's also kind of one of us. I mean he's always here winning our money so why not. Lol. However, with the likes John Dolan of Florida, Gabe Costner and Pejmanpatric Eskander of Mississippi, Jacob Tyler and Bill Melvin of Alabama, and Jared Ingles ...

Poker Magazine

Myself, Gene D, and our partner publisher John Price is Right are getting together our 2 nd issue of the Gulf Coast Magazine. As always, and by always, I mean like we did in our first issue, we will profile local live and online poker players. We pay particular attention to those Gulf Coasters who have done well in our local poker tournaments at the Beau, Harrahs , the IP , Coushatta and other rooms and haunts. Obviously, we profile successful poker players no matter the game be it No Limit Texas Hold 'Em players, Omaha pros, Stud experts, and mixed game specialists. With one exception, we hate Razz, so if you are a Razz player you can forget about getting into our magazine. Just kidding... we don't hate Razz just people that play Razz. Joking, of course. But if you are Razz player--where do you play? More seriously, if you know a player we should be paying attention to let's us know and we'll get them up on the Who's Who section of our website and consi...
