The French

This is a little off topic, but since a Euro, and maybe a frenchie might win the WSOP this year, and um... you know... the globalization of the game all that, and all the people traveling to Vegas from far-flung places, I thought I'd loosely tie in this article I read... http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/20080707/wl_time/mostobnoxioustouriststhefrench It says, according to a French website, that the French are regarded as some of the most obnoxious tourists. Even in their own country they find them obnoxious. I didn't know that. Not that, I should be surprised, because when I've traveled, the French are by far the most obnoxious hosts. So why wouldn't the travel poorly too. Actually, that's not entirely accurate. Pariseans, and larger city folk, are obnoxious. People in rural France are not quite so bad. Still, in this HATE-AMERICA era, it's surprising that our most vocal critics, the French (whose national pasttime is criticism), are less liked abroad then we...

EURO 2008

Some Babes from the Bosporus... http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/pgStory?contentId=8216748#sport=Euro%202008&photo=8226590 The boyfriends of all these scandis are the guys crushing you in online Omaha right now. Or they playing in the Euros.

Some odds and ends before the weekend.

odds... 1. Homeless woman lives in man's closet, cellphones take pictures of cellphone thieves, and how technology is protecting you... http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080606/od_nm/pluggedin_dc;_ylt=AhonTyABGB_fiNspuHXfmu6s0NUE They are so many ways you can adapt a cellphone or an iPod or any small electric device these days it's no surprise Harrahs prohibits their use at a Poker table. I enjoy listening to music when I play but... there really is no place for these do it all devices at a table. 2. Tywon Lawson at UNC got pulled over for drinking while driving. Turns out he didn't even blow the legal limit .08 (in North Carolina). Problem is he's a minor and any alchohol on the breathlyzer leads to an arrest. You want to bet if he wasn't exploring the NBA draft, the good policemen in Chapel Hill send him on his way with pat on the back. http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/story/1098535.html 3. People are creatures of habit. In the no-kidding, heavy sarcasm depa...
Every once in while, I'll post some weird links around the web, I've stumbled onto recently. Iran is questioning the legtimacy of a bronze battle mace top that they thought was 2000 years old. Why? Because it looks like the head of a mortar. Like from the 1980s and fired at their neighbors the Iraqis. And we are worried about these guys building a nuclear bomb? www.tehrantimes.com/index_View.asp?code=169224 After stumbling onto the Tehran Times, I looked around a bit was surprised to see the most viewed article was this one... tehran times : Stanley Cup returns to Ice Belt www.tehrantimes.com/index_View.asp?code=169159 Yes, the most commonly viewed article on the Tehran Times is about NHL hockey in the U.S. and Canada. I'm completely flummoxed here. Is there an Ice Hockey program in Iran I should know about. While I'm bashing the international world, I found this nugget from Mexico...
